Enjoy the daffodils in Fagerås

A fine ridge of daffodils

Fagerås offers an unbeatable nature experience. Here you can see more than a million daffodils in bloom during the season.

The farm is encompassed by a 600 metre long path. The path leads you through the plantings. Parts of the path are accessible to both wheelchairs and walking aids. Admission to Fagerås during daffodil season costs 70 SEK, (cash payment only). When the rhododendrons are in bloom, admission is free.

The farm

Fagerås is a farm located in the forest between Västergötland and Småland. Arne Andersson, the man behind what you can experience on the farm today, was born here in 1930. In 1955, Arne and his wife Birgit took over the farm from Arne's parents. For many years they were engaged in both agriculture and forestry. In 1978, Arne came across some boxes of discarded daffodil bulbs that he planted at the old forge on the farm. The rest is history. Today, the flowers spread over 12 acres (60,000 m2) in the areas around the farm.

The attentive visitor may also note the 1,500 rhododendron bushes planted in the surroundings of the farm. The rhododendrons come into bloom only a few weeks after the daffodils.

Flowers

There are about 8,000 registered varieties of narcissus flower, of which 300 are grown commercially. In Fagerås there are about 100 different varieties, the two most prominent being Golden Harvest and Ice Follies. Between 20,000 and 50,000 new bulbs are planted each year.

On the slope down to the pond there are sample squares, where about a hundred different kinds of daffodils are planted. You can experience how different the appearances and scents of a daffodil can be.
